BOGLIGHT Honey - Our local terroir is more than acidic soil and bog iron. It’s the taste of place— the sandy ground, wild wetlands, and unique blooms that flourish here.
This year’s honey captures the taste of our landscape. It’s gathered from the blossoms of Clethera alnifolia, or sweet pepperbush, a fragrant native shrub known for its summertime blooms. We were lucky to capture this monofloral honey along the Wading River in late Summer.
Expect a honeyed floral aroma, delicate sweetness, and hints of warm spice and clove.
It’s texture is smooth and fluid, like the rivers it borders.
And then there’s the color. An almost otherworldly green, as unexpected as the landscape that inspired it.
The result is a distinctive honey with a connection to the wild place where it began. A true taste of place.
